So the paintings were removed from their original home and once removed they became vulnerable, especially to the whims of great men. Enter Lorenzo, called the Magnificent, poet, scholar, and the most powerful man in Florence. Lorenzo was also a keen collector of art, and as he had been involved in administering Lionardo's will he knew all about the San Romano panels. Lorenzo now set about acquiring the panels for his imposing Florentine palace where once more they would grace a private bedchamber  his own.
