Good morning everyone. This is the last talk in this series of lectures. Feel free to ask any questions during the talk, and I'll do my best to answer them.
Today I'm going to talk about university awards. By that I mean the various degrees and diplomas, and so on, that universities give to their students. I must make it clear that my remarks will be limited to the British educational system. Different countries employ different systems.
How are the university awards obtained? There are those awards which are given for the satisfactory completion of course work and examination. The two best known examples of these are the BA or Bachelor of Arts, and the BSc or Bachelor of Science at undergraduate level. These are sometimes also called "first degrees", for the obvious reason that they are the first award that a student is likely to be given by the university. There are over 5000 degree subjects and combinations of subjects offered at universities throughout Britain.各位早上好，这是这个系列演讲的最后一讲。在演讲过程中可以任意问问题，我会尽我所能回答你们的问题。
