Everybody learning English knows what a white lie means, but since it is a lie, it has always been a controversial topic. A case in point is when a patient is suffering an incurable disease, should doctor or others tell him or her the truth?
People against telling a white lie insist the patients should be informed of the truth so that they can make proper decision on their rest days.
And the laws entitle people to know the truth which concerns them, so telling lies to patients in fact invades their legal right.
Contrary to the belief above, some people hold that telling patients their true condition risks destroying their hope, which will make the illness even more serious. Therefore, we should keep them from knowing the truth.
As far as I'm concerned, I think whether people should tell a white lie or not depends on what kind of person the patient is.学英语的人都知道白色谎言意味着什么，但是尽管它是一个谎言，人们对它总是有很多争议。比如说对于一个正在遭受无法治愈的疾病时，医生或者是其他人应该把这个事实告诉他（她）吗？
人们反对说谎，他们坚持病人应该知道他们的状况，以至于他们可以对自己剩下的人生作出决定。
并且法律有权让人们知道他们应该考虑的真相，因此对病人说谎实际上是剥夺了他们合法的权利。
对于信仰来说，有些人们认为告诉病人实情是在冒险破坏他们的希望，这可能是状况更加严重。因此，我们应该不要让病人知道自己的处境。
对我来说，我认为是否应该给病人告诉实情取决于病人是那种人
