And once again the world's financial watchdog has trimmed its forecast for global growth. It expects the world economy to expand by 3.3% this year and 3.6% next year. The IMF's report sees two big risks to the global economy - the usual suspects of the ongoing eurozone debt crisis and the so-called fiscal cliff in the US, the tax cuts and automatic spending reductions that will hit the American economy early next year unless Congress acts. Robert Brusca is at Fact and Opinion Economics in New York.
"Now lowering the outlook is pretty obvious because the world economy has been doing more poorly. There is more concern about what they call tail risk which is having some catastrophic event to occur that could really affect the outlook. And I respect that the IMF talked about two things that really have to happen in order for their even reduced forecast to come true. And one is that Europe has to stabilise its peripheral countries and they wanted to get the ESM in place and have it start helping countries. The other, of course, is the United States where the fiscal cliff problem needs to be solved, the debt ceiling needs to be lifted and the US needs to really fix its fiscal problem looking into the future more permanently."国际货币基金组织刚刚发布了年度世界经济展望报告。该世界金融监督机构此次再度削减了对全球经济增长的预期，其中本年度全球经济增长为3.3%，下年度为3.6%。IMF报告指出全球经济的两大风险---长久以来对欧债危机的担忧和美国“财政悬崖”的问题，“财政悬崖”包括减税和自动削减支出，如果国会不采取措施，预计明年早些时候这个问题将重创美国经济。纽约实事与观点经济学的罗伯特·布鲁斯卡先生如是说。
