A special photography event "Focus on Beijing" has invited 10 of the UK’s top photographers to capture the capital in a "fresh and unusual" perspective. It’s part of the build up to the London 2012 Olympics, with the British capital due to host "London-Beijing Cultural Week" in July.
Normally on the other side of the lens, these professional British photographers now find themselves under the flashlights.
The 10 will spend the next week travelling around Beijing. They’ll focus on the city’s diversity and its development -- to present a unique perspective for Londoners to see in July.
Colin Mcpherson, British photographer, said, "For me, the life of a city is the people."
Their pictures will be shown in an exhibition for "London-Beijing Cultural Week" - which coincides with the London 2012 Olympic Games.
"Focus on Beijing" has actually been held since 1999. Over a hundred international photographers have been invited to take pictures of China’s capital city.
The event is seen as an important part of China’s cultural exchanges with the rest of the world. It also helps to document and preserve images of a city undergoing a rapid transformation.
