Facebook updated its status as a public company for the first time today. Founder Mark Zuckerberg celebrated by ringing the opening bell of the NASDAQ remotely from Facebook's Menlo Park headquarters. Investors valued the company at 104 billion dollars while shares for the social networking site traded just above 38 dollars, only slightly above its NASDAQ debut price.
At a meeting this morning with President Barack Obama at the White House, French President Francois Hollande said French troops will pull out of Afghanistan ahead of schedule. Hollande said France would support Afghanistan in other ways.
Nurses, veterans, unions and occupy protesters joined forces in downtown Chicago for a pre-NATO rally demanding new taxes on banks' financial transactions to offset education and health care costs.
Jackie Chan’s fighting days are over. Chan told the AP at the Cannes Film Festival that his latest movie, Chinese Zodiac, will be his last action flick. Chan says he is retiring from the genre that made him famous to focus on more serious acting roles.
