That's later. But now in Malaysia, it's a crime for Muslim men to dress as women. It's a law which causes serious problems for transsexuals. Joo is a 25-year-old Muslim from the state of Negeri Sembilan. Born male, Joo has had cosmetic surgery and hormone therapy to make her more female, and so her physical appearance attracts a lot of attention. Some of it's unwanted as it comes from the religious police who enforce the country's Islamic laws. Joo is currently charged with impersonating a woman. And along with three other Muslim friends, she's leading a challenge in the state High Court to overturn this ban on cross-dressing. The BBC's Jennifer Pak went to visit Joo at home.
"Inside Joo's spacious two-bedroom home here in Negeri Sembilan, there are Islamic verses from the Koran hung on the wall. And just below are four, five-inch sandals that she loves to collect. She loves heels. And on the wall are long satin dresses with jewels sewn on top of it. These are the ones that she wears to beauty pageants for the transsexual community.
