答疑：lsy34But first, Vladimir Putin says he is Russia's next president. The full official results aren't in yet, but the trend is towards around 60% for the current prime minister. Addressing a crowd in central Moscow Mr Putin claimed it had been an honest contest.
"We won in an honest and open fight. But there were not only elections for a Russian president, it was a very important test for all of us, for the whole Russian people. It was a test of political maturity and independence. We showed that no one can pin anything on us, no one and nothing. We showed that our people are able to differentiate between a desire for renewal and from political provocations which only have one aim: to divide the Russian state and usurp power."
His nearest rival, the Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov said he would not recognise the results.
"We do not recognise the election and consider it illegitimate, unfair and non-transparent. It is my official position. I cannot see any sense in congratulating anyone, because everyone, without any exception, loses from this sort of election. Russia is losing.
