有爱就有希望~  ^^再过几天就是情人节啦~  MINA也要勇敢说出爱哦~ First, Jean Wyllys is one of the few openly gay MPs in Brazil. A Brazilian news magazine has just named the 37-year-old as one of the people who will shake the world in 2012. The journalist and academic has long campaigned for gay rights in the country. He came to prominence in 2005 when he won the reality TV show Big Brother. He then went on to be elected as an MP for Rio de Janeiro. Jean grew up in a rural part of the state of Bahia in northeastern Brazil. When I spoke to him through a translator, he told me more about his childhood.
"My family was extremely, extremely poor. My father had drinking problems. He would drink a lot. He would work, painting cars, but it was really hard for him to get a permanent job. It would basically, a struggle to get some money for all of us. We waited for our father to come up with solutions, to come up with money to feed our family, but he would only come back home, drunk. So when I was ten years old, I had to go - work on the streets - just like my brother who was by then nine years old. I had to work on the streets, selling candyfloss and sometimes also calendars."
"And I believe you also found a creative outlet through your local church when you were a young boy."
"The church had a paramount role in my life. It helped me a lot to develop my own skills. My parents couldn't afford to buy any books or any sort of culture really. And it was through the church that I got involved with other forms of culture. I remember that every Saturday afternoon I would go to their library and spend a lot of time reading books. So it was also there that, for the first time, I managed to put my hands on a typewriter. So I would say that they definitely had a very important role in my life. They somehow made me the man that I am today."
