could be promoted quickly. If her son became the successor, she could become
most honorable. Empress Dowager Cixi wished voluntarily to be selected into the
palace, and she gave birth to a son who later became the emperor. So she was
promoted as the Empress Dowager and ruled China for as long as 48 years.
