　　《诗经》(Book of Songs)是中国最早的诗歌总集，收录了从西周初期到春秋中期约500年间创作的305首诗歌。最初，《诗经》被称为《诗》或《诗三百》。孔子以《诗经》作为教科书教授弟子(disciple)。在汉代之后，它才被正式命名为《诗经》。《诗经》里的诗由四字诗构成，其语言简洁，韵律轻快，风格简单。《诗经》中的很多诗歌都真实反映了当时的生活和社会现状。很多诗歌与爱情和婚姻有关。《诗经》的意识形态和艺术成就对后世诗歌的发展有极大的影响。

It contains 305 poems created overa period of some 500 years from the early WesternZhou Dynasty to the middle of the Spring andAutumn period.
