高考语法汇总:基础词汇under用法小议

　　1. 用作介词，基本义为“在……下”。如：under the table(在桌下)，under the bed(在床下)，under the tree(在树下)等。
        　　注意：undder 在很多情况下含义较抽象。如：
        　　under [in] the circumstances 在这些情况下
        　　under present conditions 在目前情况下
        　　under sb’s leadership 在某人的领导下
        　　under one’s direction 在某人的指导下
        　　under the care of……在某人的照顾下
        　　under one’s control 在某人的控制下
        　　2. 有时英语虽然用了介词 under, 但在汉语中却并不译为“在……下”。如：
        　　He wore a vest under his jacket. 他在夹克里穿了件背心。
        　　I was under the impression that he was honest, but infact he was a thief. 我认为他很诚实，但实际上他是个贼。
        　　【注】有时后接某些具有动作意义的名词，表示“在……中”。如：
        　　under discussion(在讨论中)，under repair(在修缮中)，under construction(在建设中)，under consideration(在考虑中)等。
        　　3. 在很多情况下汉语中“在……下”并不能用英语的 under 来套译。如：
        　　(1) 表示在某人的帮助下，一般用介词 with。如：
        　　He got back his wallet with the help of the police. 在警察的帮助下，他找回了自己的钱包。
        　　(2) 表示在(太)阳光下，一般用介词 in。如：
        　　Don’t read in the sun. 不要在阳光下看书。
        　　The cat likes to sit in the sun. 猫喜欢坐在阳光下(即晒太阳)。
        　　【注】若要强调“太阳直射”或“炎热”，有时也用 under。如：
        　　under the burning sun of midsummer 在盛夏的灼热阳光下
        　　成语 under the sun, 不是指在太阳下，而是指“天下”“世上”等。如：
        　　It’s the best wine under the sun. 这是世上最好的酒。
        　　(3) 表示借光做某事，一般用介词 by。如：
        　　He worked by the light of a candle. 他在烛光下工作。
