Cannes Film Festival has come under fire after reports women were turned away from a red carpet screening for wearing flat shoes instead of heels.戛纳电影节饱受抨击，因诸多新闻报导称没穿高跟鞋而着平底鞋的女性被拒之门外，不得走红地毯。

A spokesperson for the festival confirmed to the BBC on email: "Rules have not changed throughout the years (tuxedo, formal dress for gala screenings) and there is no specific mention about the height of the women's heels as well as for men's." The story provoked widespread outrage on Twitter, where the head of film at the SXSW festival, Janet Pierson, tweeted a link to the story with the words: "Why I don't go to Cannes".女性因着平底鞋被拒的这件事在推特上引发了众多网友们的愤怒。而美国德克萨斯州音乐节的主办人简奈·皮尔逊推特了一则这个故事的链接，并附文道“这是我不参加戛纳的原因。”
