A 17-year-old American boy has attracted worldwide attention by mastering 23 languages in just a few weeks.17岁的美国男孩在数周内掌握了23种语言，吸引到全球关注。
Timothy Doner from New York gained fame after he posted videos showing off his skills on Youtube, including one in which he was seen speaking 20 consecutive languages.来自纽约的蒂莫西·多纳在Youtube网站上上传视频展示语言才能，然后他就出名了。在一个视频中他连续说了20种语言。
Experts have classified him as a "hyperpolyglot", making him part of a small, exclusive group of individuals who can master a language in very short period of time.专家将他列为精通多国语言的“语言狂人”之一，这一独特而又稀少的群体成员能在非常短的时间内掌握一门语言。
Doner came into limelight after he started posting his videos, gathering several thousand hits from people who also encouraged him to further showcase his unique talent.视频开始贴出后多纳成为了关注焦点，视频得到了数千位网友的点击，人们还鼓励多纳更多地展示这一独特才能。
Languages caught his interest for the first time when he started learning Hebrew, gaining proficiency in it within a week, the Huffington Post reported.《赫芬顿邮报》报道称，多纳最初在学习希伯来语时开始对语言产生兴趣，他在一周内就熟练掌握了这门语言。
Doner practices his language skills in the real-world by speaking with New York City cab drivers, interacting with others at restaurants and connecting with people around the world via e-mail and Skype, it said.报道还说，多纳是在真实的语言环境中练习的，他与纽约市出租车司机交谈，和餐馆里的人对话，还通过邮件及Skype与世界各地的人们交流。

多纳会说的语言除了“大众”的法语、西班牙语、意大利语、德语，还包括许多听起来很“冷门”的语言，如南非官方语言之一的科萨语、冈比亚常用语言沃洛夫语、斯瓦西里语及美国欧吉布威原住民语。除了这些，多纳还会说数种非洲方言。
多纳2012年曾登上《纽约时报》，专家将当时16岁的他列为一小群精通多国语言的“语言狂人”之一，这群人学语言的速度之快相当惊人。
