        　　We are all seeking the summit of the holy mountain;
        　　but shall not our road be shorter
        　　if we consider the past a chart and not a guide?
        　　Wisdom ceases to be wisdom
        　　when it becomes too proud to weep, too grave to laugh,
        　　and too self-full to seek other than itself.
        　　Had I filled myself with all that you know what room should I have for all that you do not know?
        　　I have learned silence from the talkative,
        　　toleration from the intolerant, and kindness from the unkind;
        　　yet strange, I am ungrateful to these teachers.
        　　A bigot is a stone-leaf orator
        　　假如我们把过去当作一张图表而不作为一个向导的话，我们路程不是可以缩短吗?
