Romney wins Republican nominee for US President
The Republican National Convention has kicked off in Tampa, Florida, after the threat of Hurricane Isaac delayed the start of the convention by a day.
Tuesday’s agenda has been dominated by the traditional roll call of state delegations, making Mitt Romney’s presidential nomination official. Romney, who originally planned to stay out of the spotlight until Thursday night when he accepts his party’s nomination, decided to make an appearance on Tuesday to be on hand for his wife’s turn at the podium.
Republicans face a stiff challenge to make a forceful argument for Romney to replace President Barack Obama, while avoiding an atmosphere of celebration at a time when many in the Gulf Coast are facing the threat of Hurricane Isaac.

中新网8月29日电据外电报道，美国前马萨诸塞州州长米特·罗姆尼28日在佛罗里达州坦帕举行的共和党全国代表大会上正式获得共和党总统候选人提名，他将在11月6日的大选中挑战现任总统奥巴马。
经过各州对罗姆尼在党内预选时的得票统计，罗姆尼的党代表票数超越了获得提名所需的1144张，符合提名资格。自此，罗姆尼将和奥巴马在11月对决的局面正式成形。
