Torrential rains have hit several provinces in China causing huge property losses.
The rain has pounded Yili city in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for several days, causing property loss of more than 70 million yuan.
Due to the heavy rainfall, the Lanxin Railway connecting Lanzhou and Urumqi has been forced to lower its speed and change its course through a detour. The rain had also caused the Mogao Grottoes, a world cultural heritage site in Gansu province, to close for two days.
The rain also hit Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region on Tuesday, causing more than 3 million yuan in losses. And more than 5,000 people have been relocated since a heavy rainstorm began to hit parts of central China's Hunan Province on Tuesday.
With farm land flooded, houses damaged and traffic halted, the property losses from the rain are still expected to increase. |
