Wu, chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress, China's toplegislature, opened the 13th Western China International Fair (WCIF) on Tuesday evening.
A gala showcasing western China's long history and modern civilization was held as a prelude to theevent.
The fair mainly exhibits products of electronic information, equipment manufacturing, new energyand new materials, as well as those converted from hi-tech achievements this year.
The event was first held in 2000 with the progress of global economic integration and China'simplementation of the western development strategy.
