Enter Lorenzo, called the Magnificent, poet, scholar, and the most powerful man in Florence. Lorenzo was also a keen collector of art, and as he had been involved in administering Lionardo's will he knew all about the San Romano panels. Lorenzo now set about acquiring the panels for his imposing Florentine palace where once more they would grace a private bedchamberhis own.
Lorenzo forces Andrea, to hand over his half of the pictures by Uccello. Absurdly, one-and-a-half pictures, therefore. Andrea was a Medici employee. He had absolutely no choice. His brother, Damiano, was clearly pretty cross about this.
