I don't really like answering questions about whether I'm a fan or not.
Why not?
Reading his books in my own individual way is a very private pleasure, and I feel strongly about keeping my own connections with the world of his books to myself.
I'm a Murakami fan, and I'd like to stay as a number one fan.
How would I describe him? I first tell them that he is the person who changed my life in the way I live it. I read the books in chronological order from the first one, so I recommend people to do the same. When I first read Murakami's books, I was a high school student who'd always been anxious about my inability to get on with other people. The books took away those anxieties and made it easier for me to form relationships with people.
I have been considerably influenced by the books I've read. I've done many things that I, otherwise, might not have done.
