实用英语：“离婚”要谨慎
快节奏的生活，膨胀的物欲让人心烦意乱，导致现代社会的离婚率居高不下。虽然说合则来，不合则分，但是离婚总归是一件伤心伤情、劳民伤财的事，所以一定要谨慎啊。说到“离婚”，大家都知道英语是 divorce，这个词不仅是动词，还是名词，我们来看两个例子：
His cruelty has got beyond endurance; that's why his wife has decided to
divorce him.
他的残暴已令人无法忍受，因此他妻子决定与他离婚。
This couple has come to this, that they can not solve their problem without
a divorce.
这对夫妇已到了不离婚就解决不了他们之间的问题的地步。
除了divorce，“离婚”还有很多常用的其他表达，比如：
1. Break up
Break up 有“结束一段关系”的意思，比如“结束一段友情，结束一段恋情/婚姻”：
Their marriage broke up last year. 他们去年离婚了。
Bob and Mary broke up last month. 鲍勃和玛丽上个月分手了。
His gambling was bound to break up their marriage. 他赌博，结果他太太和他离婚了。
“离婚”也可以直接说成 break a marriage，比如：
I wouldn't go as far as to break the marriage. 我还不至于到离婚的地步。
Expectations can either make or break a marriage.
对婚姻的期望既可能保有一段婚姻也可能导致离婚。
2. Split up (with sb.)
Split up 的本意是“分开，分裂”，也可以用来表示“分手，离婚”，例如：
They split up after a year of marriage.
他们结婚一年后离婚了。
Prince William and girlfriend split up.
威廉王子和女友分手了。
3. Separate
Separate 既可以表示夫妻“法律上离婚”，也可以表示“分居”，例如：
She was separated from her husband last year.
去年她和丈夫离婚了
The child's parents have separated.
这孩子的父母已经分居了。
那离婚后“再婚”要怎么说呢?就是remarry，这个词还可以表示“复婚”，例如：
Research suggests that the best time to remarry is before a child's 10th
birthday or after his/her 16th. 研究建议最佳的再婚时间是在孩子10岁之前或是16岁之后。
She remarry her former husband ten year after their divorce.
她与原来的丈夫离婚十年后又复婚了。
