　　momentary，momentous
        　　这一对词的意义也大相径庭。
        　　Momentary/'m+ument+ri/的意思是“瞬刻的”、“暂时的”(transitory or lasting only for a moment)，其后常跟pain、interruption、expectation、happiness、emotion等词，其同义词是transient/ephemeral;反义语是lasting。例：
        　　They can only secure momentary happiness.
        　　他们只能获得暂时的幸福。
        　　It is a momentary reaction.
        　　那是一种短暂的反应。
        　　Momentous/m+u'ment+s/的意思是“重大的”、“重大的”(of great consequence)。其后常跟events、news、moments、date(等词，其同义词是important、highly significant;反义语是trifling。例：
        　　Hong Kong's return to China is a momentous event in 1997.
        　　香港回归中国是1997年的重要大事。
        　　This news is momentous to you.
        　　此消息对你很重要。
