《Going Home》是美国名作家及记者Peter Hamill在1971年《纽约邮报》上发表的一篇故事。上世纪六七十年代由于国家参与越南战争，美国人正处于十分艰难的时代，人们传统的价值观如同情，理解，信任以及爱开始逐渐缺失。作者希望通过一个刚放出的囚犯在旅途上与一群年轻人的故事，来表达对于回家强烈的渴望，只有回家了才可以重新找回那些曾经拥有的传统美好的价值观。由于这个动人的故事，在美国，黄丝带也成为了欢迎长时间离家的人归来的标志，尤其是指那些历经磨难的人。

Howard Johnson's"We' re going to Florida," the girl said brightly. "You' re going that far?"
  " I don' t know, " Vingo said.
  "I' ve never been there, " she said. "I hear it's beautiful ".
  "It is, " he said quietly, as if remembering something he had tried to forget.
  "You live there? "
  "I was there in the Navy, at the base in Jacksonville. "
  "Want some wine? " she said. He smiled and took a swig from the bottle. He thanked her and retreated again into his silence. After a while, she went back to the others as Vingo nodded in sleep.
  In the morning, they awoke outside another Howard Johnson's and this time Vingo went in. The girl insisted that he join them. He seemed very shy and ordered black coffee and smoked nervously, as the young people chattered about sleeping on beaches. When they got back on the bus, the girl sat with Vingo again. After a while, slowly and painfully, he began to tell his story. He had been in jail in New York for the last four years, and now he was going home.
  "Are you married? "
  "I don ' t know."
  " You don't know?" she said.“我们要去佛罗里达，”那个女孩欢快地说，“你也要去那么远吗？”
  “我不知道。”温戈说道。
  “我从未去过那儿，”她说，“听说那儿很美。”
  “是的，”他轻声地说，好像想起了他试图要忘记的事情。
  “你住在哪儿？”
  “我在那儿的海军服过役，是在杰克逊维尔的海军基地。”
  “你想喝点酒吗？”她说，他笑了笑拿起酒瓶喝了一大口。道过谢后，他又陷入了沉默。过了一会儿，温戈打起了瞌睡，于是那个女孩又回到了她的同伴当中。
   到了早上，当他们醒来的时候，车停在了另一个霍华德.约翰逊连锁餐饮店前面，这一次温戈进了餐厅。那个女孩坚持让他加入他们的行列。他看起来很腼腆，要了杯黑咖啡后就申请局促地抽起了烟，而年轻人则喋喋不休地谈起了在海滩上过夜的事。当他们回到车上，那个女孩又同温戈坐到了一起。过了一会，他就开始讲起了他的故事，讲得很慢且神情痛苦。在过去的四年里他一直在纽约的监狱里服刑，现在他要回家了。
  “你成家了吗？”
  “我不知道。”
  “你不知道？”她说。
