Almost everyone has a favorite kind of tree. No living thing lasts forever. ;
Even trees become old. They lose their leaves and die. ;
Thousands of trees burn in forest fires, and many others die from lack of water. ;
People cut down thou- sands more to build houses or to make furniture. ;
Americans think that trees are important. ;
After a forest fire they plant new trees to replace the old ones, ;
and the men who cut down trees often plant other trees in the same places. ;
Every spring there is a special day for planting new trees. ;
