新概念三册：一次次完美的回击

　　前段时间收到一封学生来信， 在信中，她得意的告诉我她在与一位美国外教辩论中西方教育时，借助从新概念课文中获得的灵感，让外教啧啧称赞，生平第一次有了战胜英语的成就感。
　　新概念--辩论，仿佛没有太多交集，却让这位小姑娘看出了其中的奥妙和端倪。她把自己的原话写在信中，原来是对新三23课第一段的一点小改动：
　　Chinese parents become quite illogical when they try to educate their children. If you lived in China, for instance, you would consider holiday a rare occasion. You would not be able to understand why some parents find it unnecessary. On the other hand, your brain would explode at the idea of countless homework and examinations - the normally accepted practice in most schools of China. The sad truth is that most of Chinese have been brought up to accept the traditional way of education and stick to them all their lives.
　　相信她是把新三背熟并且掌握了其中的语言和逻辑，比如里面大段虚拟语气的运用。这封信也激起了我许多灵感，记得2008年CNN的主播卡弗蒂（Cafferty）在电视台评论中国时，说过这样一番话：
　　Cafferty: So I think our relationship with China has certainly changed, I think they're basically the same bunch of goons and thugs they've been for the last 50 years.
　　卡弗蒂：所以，我想，我们与中国的关系真的是改变了。我想，他们基本上还是那群过去50年间一直没有什么改变的暴徒和恶棍。
　　的确，我接触的很多外国人也是这两年才对中国的印象越来越好的，可是对于他们的这种误解，我们如何回击？还是利用新三23课第一段：
　　People become quite illogical when they try to decide how to judge China and Chinese. If you lived in china, for instance, you would consider China a great country. You would not be able to understand why some people find it awful. On the other hand, your nose would protrude at the smell of sweet and sour pork （糖醋里脊） - the normally accepted practice in many cities of China. The sad truth is that most of the foreigners have been brought up to be misled by one-sided views and stick to them all their lives.
　　一部经典的教材，永远都不会随着时间的消逝而褪色，无论何时，何处都能寻觅到它的身影。如同放在我枕边的《增广贤文》，里面透出智慧值得永久体味。
