China’s top political advisory body, the Chinese People’s Political
Consultative Conference, has concluded its 2014 session. More than two-thousand
members gathered at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing for the closing. The
members have passed the work report of the Standing Committee in 2013, the
report on proposals reviewed during the session and a political resolution of
the 2014 session.
This year, CPPCC members submitted nearly 6-thousand proposals on social
conditions and public concerns, and offered many comments and suggestions.
The political resolution states that great achievements have been made in
pushing forward reform and opening up. It says the CPPCC will center on unity
and democracy and carefully fulfill its duties of political consultation,
democratic supervision and participation in the discussion and management of
state affairs. Yu Zhengsheng, the chairman of the CPPCC National Committee,
encouraged political advisers to play a positive role in the economy, politics
and social affairs.
