Global A-List Descends on Davos
World Economic Forum founder Klaus Schwab says that this year's meeting at Davos is the most diverse ever, but the reality is that the biggest single group of delegates is from the U.S.

Some 700 of the 2,500 delegates to Davos this year are from the U.S., according to data calculated by The Wall Street Journal from this year's delegate list.

Big name CEOs attending include John S. Watson of Chevron Corp., Michael S. Dell of Dell Inc. Merck & Co.'s Kenneth C. Frazier, Indra Nooyi of PepsiCo Inc., Muhtar A. Kent of Coca-Cola Co., Mike Duke of Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and Marissa Mayer of Yahoo Inc. That is quite an A-list even though this year it is missing the top names from Google Inc., who previously have been almost Davos royalty.

India's delegation has grown with the country's burgeoning economic muscle and this year they're ahead of even France with 113 people, with a strong contingent of people from the country's IT sector such as senior executives from Wipro Ltd. and HCL Technologies Ltd. China's delegation is only half this size. In part, Chinese delegates prefer to try to boost the profile of the World Economic Forum event held annually in Dalian, China, and in part because in some years it falls awkwardly close to Chinese New Year, traditionally a time for family gatherings, not seminars on corporate responsibility.
