　　“But this is a bad day.”
　　[译文]“你今天下午能陪我去看电影吗？”“哦，真不凑巧，我今天忙，改天怎么样啊？”
　　[分析]译文不仅译出了信息，而且译出了情感，用词恰当、通顺，让人读起来自然、舒服，这符合了美学的要求。如果译为“但是，今天真糟糕。”那就差很多了。
　　「句2」汉字在历史上有过不可磨灭的功绩。
　　[译文]The system of Chinese characters ha played an invaluable role in our history.
　　[分析]“不可磨灭的功绩”没有照字面翻译，译为“ invaluable role ”能充分表达愿意。
　　段子：
　　在国际格局的变动中抓住机遇、扩大开放，有利于我国在独立自主的基础上壮大社会主义经济，有利于吸收和借鉴世界各国先进的科学技术、经营管理方法以及其他一切有益的知识和文化，建设社会主义精神文明。
　　译文：
　　We should grasp the opportune time in the changing world to expand opening up to the outside world.This will be conducive to the expansion of our socialist econonmy based on the principle of indepedence and by acting on our own initiative； this will help China better to take in and learn from advanced sciences and technologies，management expertise，and all other useful knowlege and cultures ，for the promotion of ethical and cultural progress.
　　[分析]如果把“在国际格局的变动中抓住机遇、扩大开放”作为句子的主语，会使整个句子头重脚轻。所以我把它译成整个句子。后面的两个谓语“有利于……”另外起句，加上“this”作为主语，使译文变得更加简明。
