常考词的语法与用法：marry和matter

　　◆marry v.
　　1. 表示与某人结婚，marry 通常用作及物动词，不要受汉语的影响，在其后用介词 with 或 to。如：
　　正：She married a teacher. 她同一位教师结了婚。
　　误：She married with [to] a teacher.
　　有时不说出结婚的对象，也可用作不及物动词。不过此时多半会有状语修饰。如：
　　Her father married again. 她爸爸又结婚了。
　　He married (when he was) very early. 他结婚很早。
　　在口语或非正式文体中，不及物用法的 marry 通常用 get married。如：
　　They got married in 1987. 他们是1980年结婚的。
　　2. 表示婚姻的状况，通常用 be married。注意：其中的 married是形容词而不是过去分词。如：
　　她结婚没有?
　　正：Is she married?
　　误：Did she marry? /Has she married?
　　3. marry 和 get married 均为非延续性动词，通常不与一段时间连用。若要表示某人结婚有多久，可用 be married。如：
　　误：They’ve (got) married for 20 years.
　　正：They’ve been married for 20 years. 他们结婚20年了。
　　4. be married 和 get married 之后可接介词 to(不能用 with)引出结婚的对象。如：
　　误：She was [got] married with him.
　　正：She was [got] married to him. 她同他结了婚。
　　◆matter n. & v.
　　1. 用作名词，与 the 连用，表示“乱子”、“毛病”(相当于形容词 wrong)，其后通常连用的介词是 with。如：
　　What’s the matter with her? 她怎么啦?
　　Is (there) anything the matter? 出了什么事吗?
　　He has something the matter with his stomach. 他的肚子有点不舒服。
　　注：在 What’s the matter (with……)? 这一结构里，what是主语，the matter 是表语(=wrong)。因此在宾语从句中应注意其语序: I don’t know what is the matter. 我不知道出了什么事。
　　比较：I don’t know what the matter is. 我不知道这种物质是什么。
　　2. 表示“事情”、“问题”，在以下表达中，用介词of 或 for 均可：
　　It’s a matter of [for] congratulation (complaint, regret).
　　那是件是值得庆贺(令人抱怨、令人遗憾)的事。
　　但是以下表达通常用介词 of：
　　It’s a matter of time (money, habit, form). 那是一个时间(钱、习惯、形式)问题。
　　3. 用作动词，是不及物动词，主要用于否定句、疑问句或条件句中，意为“要紧”、“关系重要”，多用 it 作主语。如：
　　It matters little who is elected. 谁当选无关紧要。
　　It will not matter if you come home late. 即使你回家晚了也没关系。
　　针对某人而言，后接介词 to；针对某事或做事而言，后接介词about。如：
　　What does it matter to you? 这对你有什么关系?
　　It doesn’t matter about closing the window. 关上窗子没有关系。
　　偶尔也用于肯定句中。如：
　　Some things matter more than others. 有些事情更重要。
