exponential 表示上升的程度，可以替换成 dramatic / sharp / considerable / striking

(1)The past few years has witnessed a burgeoning economy in China.
During the past several years, China has witnessed a rapid economic development.
China has experienced a rapid economic development in recent years. (替换)
Europe has suffered from a great financial loss in recent years. (替换)
注：the past several years后面接has和have均可。一方面，一段时间后面用has没有问题;另一方面，用have也可以，表示这几年年年都见证了。
