In China,calligraphy occupies a very important position in the field of
traditional art. Calligraphy has a history lasting for more than 2,000 years.
There are five main ways of writing and each needs different techniques. To
practice calligraphy requires the Four Treasures of the Study. Calligraphy is
considered to be an art form requiring inner peace. Today, although various
modern ways of writing have come up, calligraphy is still practiced often as a
hobby. Nowadays, it has also become more and more popular among westerners.
