Some verbs are usually followed by prepositions before the object of the verb. These are called dependent prepositions and they are followed by a noun or a gerund (‘ing’ form).有一些动词常常在动词宾语跟着介词。 这种叫做依存介词,它们经常跟着一个名词和动名词(动词ing形式)。• He’s waiting for a bus.For is the dependent preposition for ‘wait’这里的for是wait的动词搭配We can use other prepositions with ‘wait’ – e.g. He waited at the bus stop – but ‘for’ is the dependent preposition.我们能用其他介词和wait搭配,例如He waited at the bus stop ,但是for是依存介词。Here are some other verbs with their dependent prepositions.这里有一些其他的和依存介词搭配的动词。Verbs with ‘for’ 和for搭配的动词• He apologised for being late.
