So this phone call which he received from his boss settled some questions in his mind. The boss usually did not keep him updated on what the plans were and what was going on. Hodge was only told what the boss felt like he needed to know to get the job done. Hodge followed instructions well; he listened closely and carried out the tasks meticulously. He did not get curious and ask annoying, useless questions. Perhaps these are some of the reasons Hodge was able to gain the boss' favor so quickly.
