写一篇文章，做好了前期的准备工作，也认真的写完了正文，你以为这样就结束了吗？不，我们需要从头到尾检查一遍。来看看该如何检查及修改自己的文章吧：
1、Wait a day or so and re-read your essay 等一天或几天再看你的文章
这是一个很实用的自检方法，不止是写作，也应用于很多领域。隔一段时间再来看自己写的文章，多多少少会看出些当时自己没注意到的问题。
2、Correct errors related to grammar, punctuation and spelling 检查语法、标点和拼写错误
在现在的科技时代，拼写和语法错误很容易就能纠正。
如果你不确定如何使用引号、冒号、分号等标点，建议你多看看参考书和参考文章。避免使用感叹号。逗号、句号需要包括在引号内。
3、Check your statements 检查句子
注意这些容易犯错的词：than/then, your/you're, its/it's等等。
4、Remove any repetitive or unnecessary words 删除重复的或是没必要的单词
多种表达能为你的文章增彩。使用不熟悉的单词前建议好好查阅字典。
另外，要使你的句子简洁明了。避免一直用大词，恰当的小词能提升你的文章水平。简洁明了也易于读者阅读。
5、Avoid colloquial (informal) writing 避免非正式表达
书面语和口语是不能混为一谈的。请不要使用缩写（如：e.g., don't, can't, won't, shouldn't, could've, or haven't）。写作需要严谨。
6、Analyze how your essay flows 分析你的文章流利度
句子和句子之间衔接的流畅吗？段落与段落之间逻辑关系严密吗？良好的起承转合能帮助你顺利的表达观点。以下提供一些例子：
当事情有先后顺序时：I first started to realize that I was in the minority when I was in middle school… My realization was confirmed when I proceeded to high school.
一个想法与另一个想法：Vegetarians argue that land is unnecessarily wasted by feeding animals to be eaten as food...Opponents argue that land being used for grazing would not be able to be used to create any other kind of food.
有因果关系时：I will be the first person in my family to graduate from college...I am inspired to continue my family's progress through the generations.
想法相近时：Organic food is thought to be better for the environment… local food is believed to achieve the same goals.
7、Cut information that's not specifically related to your topic 删掉和你的主题不相关的信息
这点不需要多说。请干脆的删掉不支持或间接支持你的观点的信息。
8、Have someone read your paper aloud to you, or record yourself reading it aloud and play it back 请别人大声朗读你的文章，或者自己录音后再听
在检查语言错误方面，有时候你的耳朵会比眼睛更好用。
9、Rewrite any problematic body passages 重写有问题的段落
不要犯懒，段落有问题又难以改正时就需要重写。如果需要，也得重新安排句子和段落的顺序，以保证你的文章流利度。
