投机倒把 speculation and profiteering

　　“删去下列法律中关于‘投机倒把’‘投机倒把罪’的规定，并作出修改”。本月24日提请十一届全国人大常委会第十次会议再次审议的关于修改部分法律的决定草案做出如上规定。从今以后，“投机倒把”将成为历史名词。那么“投机倒把”用英文该如何表达呢?

　　在上面的报道中，speculation and profiteering就是指“投机倒把”，常以speculative buying(投机性买入)为开端，并在日后speculative selling(高价卖出)，因此“投机倒把”还可以用speculative buying and selling来表达，这包括利用selling short(买空卖空), hoarding and cornering(囤积居奇), fraudulent purchase and resale(套购转卖)等方式获取暴利。
　　例如：Very few people know that he is engaged in speculative buying and selling.(很少有人知道他是做投机倒把生意的)。
　　在以往短缺经济和价格双轨制的双重作用下，社会还滋生出一大批靠speculation and profiteering发财的“倒爷”。他们凭借手中的权力，搞到平价的紧俏产品，然后高价卖出。这些“倒爷”就被称为profiteer或者wheeler-dealer。
