　　“海选”本是指“村官直选”，即中国农民在村民自治中创造的一种直接选举方式。2004年，一场“超级女生”让一向低调的“海选”成了网络热门关键词。选秀中的“海选”如何用英文来表达?

　　如果看过“美国偶像”，您会发现，“audition”是“偶像”在第一轮选拔时最常用的词汇。“Audition”原意指“第一次上镜”，如果运用到选秀节目，它特指经过第一次试唱从最普通的报名者当中筛选这一机制。这层含义与中国选秀节目中的“海选”颇为相通，由此，选秀节目中的“海选”可表达为“ audition”。
