9月22日，一家伊斯兰网站播放的录像画面显示，上周在伊拉克被绑架的英国人质比格利还活着，他流着眼泪向首相布莱尔求救，请求他不要错过最后的机会，要尽力帮助挽救他的生命。但是路透社表示，英国政府看来不会向绑架者让步。英国外交大臣斯特劳说，如果英国向绑架者让步，那将使伊拉克和世界任何地方都不安全。
