        话题:

The traditional libraries are doomed to be replaced by digital library?

        范例1:

The above pictures vividly demonstrate that these glittering e-readers not only facilitate our reading habit but also rock our deeply-rooted traditions. Even though the e-readers have many advantages than traditional libraries, such as having a digital library at your finger, taking away books everywhere and reading it anytime, the e-readers haven’t the ability to completely kick out the motor-and-brick library from the spotlight.

First of all, the library’s worst weakness – its immovableness, is just the greatest advantage over the showy electronic gadgets. Library is a public place, not a private-owned commercial property. Everyone knows where the library is. Everyone knows that it’s the last way that we can resort to when we face crisis in the world. Everyone knows that it can bestow us not only knowledge and skills but also the spiritual motivation. When I sit down in the chair of a silent library, the tranquil surroundings make me forget the pass of time. This experience could never be touched by the e-readers.

Equipped the internet access, the e-reader is indeed a killer tool to challenge the dominant position of library in people’ life because people can collaborate and share their feelings about a book, even in real time. However, it’s the library’s strong point, not the e-reader's. In library’s lobby, people can freely exchange their opinions about a topic a book without the help of outsider tools. Moreover, this kind of communication is far better than that after shallow reading.

Above all, even though advanced e-readers are eagerly taking the position of library, like a noisy teenager rashly grabbing the crown of father in the family life, library is still a solid rock of our society.

                                        范例2:

Last summer holiday, I brought a kindle paperwhite from Amazon. The moment I touched it, I proclaimed that my Reading Revolution commenced. A lot of friends told me that Kindlepw’s e-ink design perfectly substituted for ordinary books and its internal memory was large enough to store thousands of books. For a very long period, Kindle had replaced paper books to be my most intimate company and I even thought that paper books can completely be kicked out of my life. However, gradually, I realized how unilateral my understanding of books was! From one side, I compared Kindle with paper books and ignorantly claimed that Kindle’s convenience overweighed ordinary books’ awkwardness. But what I neglected was paper books ‘cultural characteristic, which was handed down from generation to generation and became the brilliant treasure of human beings. While e-books are so cheap and easy to obtain, few people really cherish them.

Furthermore, paper books nurture people’s disposition. In current society, the flying update of electronic products stirs our mind. It is not hard to notice that almost everyone obsesses himself with e-products, such as smart phone, ipad and so on, which steal our time and space to immerse ourselves into our own mind. Fortunately, we have paper books. The aroma of ink and handfeel of paper help us escape from the chill e-world.

I love paper books. They are warm, friendly. They make me feel peace and rich.
