"'Gao Kao' is no longer able to determine your entire life", this is a nongovernmental interpretation of the recent significant decisions on education reform made by our party leaders. Regardless of its possibility of realization, again it stirs a whirlpool of emotion in thousands of minds. At the TED Talks Education, Sir Ken Robinson embraced an elaborate metaphor where the current global education is like a "Death Valley", which, however, is not dead but dormant, where policy makers, instead of bringing in the demand and control, should embrace the climate control. To the most parts of our current education system, the opinions of Sir Ken Robinson is surely of value.
Education plays an irreplaceable role in the efforts of eliminating social problems provoked by the wider and wider wealth gap. Sush is human nature, that jealousness, dissatisfaction and even irrational hatred grows when civilians are constantly haunted by the strut of some super rich and vested interest groups. However, it is the equal access to education of high quality, that gives everyone the skills they need to get the opportunity, that assures them of the opportunity to realize their dreams. Great leaders know this, and that is one of the reasons for the rise of prosperous countries throughout the history.
As a student passing by, I am not completely confident about the instant recovery of our education system, but I do hope that those students incoming-maybe your and my children-can see a world with more color during their childhood.
