A long time ago and far away there lived a King and a Queen .They were very happy, for their first child, a girl, had been born.很久很久以前，在一个遥远的地方，住着一位国王和一位王后，他们因为第一个孩子，一个女儿的诞生非常开心。
" We must have a grand christening for her," said the King , who was delighted to have a daughter.国王非常高兴有了一个女儿，说，“我们一定要给她举行一个盛大的洗礼仪式。”
"We must invite all the fairies of the kingdom to bless her," said the Queen. 王后说，“我们要邀请王国里所有的仙女来祝福她。”
"How many are there now ?" asked the King.国王问：“我们有多少仙女呢?”
"Twelve or thirteen," said his wife. "Send the invitations . We'll soon find out ."他的妻子说，“十二个也不十三个。把邀请发出去我们很快就知道了。”
