Elena终于回到了自己的身体中，随之而来的是K女王的真正离去。现在大家的任务就是合力对付旅行者。在《吸血鬼日记》第五季第18集中开头，Elena做了一个关于自己与Stephen的梦，梦中他们第一次见面，甜蜜而美好，但之后Stephen却被一辆车所撞。在Elena的梦中，响起的歌曲就是这首Mad World。
Mad World原本是英国乐队Tears For Fears在1982年创作的作品，由Roland Orzabal创作和乐队贝斯手Curt Smith演唱。一经问世，就被许多明星翻唱，并被诸多电影电视剧所引用。2014年《吸血鬼日记》第五季第18集片头中引用了Sara Hickman演唱的版本为背景音乐。
