Cyndi Lauper，全名Cynthia Ann Stephanie Lauper Thornton，1953年6月22日出生于美国纽约皇后区，曾作过：女侍，模特，管家，秘书， 空手道教练，店员，马场服务生。1983年底推出首张个人专辑《She's so unusual》，以其极尽鲜艳、夸张与多变的妆扮造型领导风潮，同时又以其演唱与创作才华，获得乐界一致好评，不仅专辑销售达六百万张、创下首张专辑便拥有四首TOP 5单曲的纪录外，更于1985年获第27届格莱美音乐奖年度最佳歌曲等五个奖项提名，并勇夺最佳新人头衔，风头之健仅次于迈克尔·杰克逊。
《Time After Time》和《True Colors》是Cyndi最有名的两张专辑，这两张专辑，为她赢得了BILLBOARD最佳女艺人，《滚石》最佳艺人，CASHBOX年度最佳女艺人的奖项，并参加了《we are the world》的录制。
