Monarch来自美国纽约的独立团，最早是由Aaron Strawn和Brennan Strawn兄弟俩组成，早在兄弟俩还在大学时期2人就已经显现出在音乐方面的才华，后来主唱弟弟Brennan Strawn独立发展，被Northern Records recording厂牌签约成为旗下歌手。乐队虽然来自美国纽约，但他们的音乐有着极为典型的英式旋律，概括说来有这么几个突出的特点。一是在他们的作品中，钢琴往往是最为重要的乐器，引导着主旋律的走向。二是主唱的嗓音非常清澈明亮，在真假音的切换上也显得相当自如。综合这两方面可以看出，Monarch和Keane非常相像，事实上也确实如此，他们的歌从旋律上来说也很容易让你联想到Keane。
