《幻想曲》是迪斯尼第３部动画片，是部古典音乐动画片，更是世界第一部使用立体音响的电影，获得奥斯卡最佳杰出贡献特别奖，本片也是到目前为止迪斯尼经典动画中重映次数最多的一部。 它是古典音乐普及的经典之作，寓教于乐，老少皆宜。片中将经过再加工的古典音乐与富有想象力的动画完美结合，集有《胡桃夹子》、《春之祭》、《魔法师的弟子》、《田园交响曲》、《荒山之夜》等名曲。
《荒山之夜》是穆索尔斯基1874年根据亡友加尔特曼（青年画家、建筑设计师）的遗作展览会的观后感写成，以表达对亡友的哀思和敬意。这部作品从构思到完成前后历时十几年。早在1860年他计划创作歌剧《女巫》，准备了一些音乐素材，但这部歌剧没有完成。1866年听了李斯特《死神之舞》钢琴与管弦乐曲后，又引起关于"女巫"的创作乐想，遂于1867年创作了交响诗《荒山上圣约翰之夜》，但由于巴拉基列夫对作品提出否定意见，因此又被暂时搁下。1871 年冬，作者将其改编为管弦乐与合唱曲，用于歌剧《姆拉达》第三幕中"恶神"的一场，但由于该歌剧流产，此曲又未能演出。1874年作者又将前没有完成。 1881年，里姆斯基--柯萨科夫进行整理，并于1886年由其亲自指挥首演，从此《荒山之夜》便以独立的管弦乐曲形式出现于世界乐坛。
