staring off into the distance, stare (off) into space长时间眺望远方(并没有特定看的对象，或者想看什么东西)(looking for a long time at nothing)。要注意：staring是stare的现在分词，而跟star 没有关联。

stir, 指他的斗篷随风飘动。窗帘的飘动也可以用这个词，A gentle breeze stirred the curtains.
另外，这个词常常用来指搅拌，搅动，把东西混合。She stirred her coffee with a plastic stick.
“There’s something wrong here,” Gared muttered.“这儿不太对劲。”盖瑞喃喃地说。
The young knight gave him a disdainful smile. “Is there?”年轻骑士对他轻蔑地一笑。“是吗？”
disdainful, 形容词，藐视的，不屑的。觉得不重要，所以瞧不起。这种用法非常的正式。disdain名词动词是同形的。动词短语disdain to do sth, 不屑做某事，还记得前面讲的deign to do sth. 屈尊做某事, Tim called after her, but she didn’t disdain to answer. 这里的意思就更进一步了，压根就懒得搭理。
Is there? 这里是反义疑问句。对应的是Gared 说的那句，There’s something wrong here.
反义疑问句，一般应与主句相反。There’s something wrong here, isn’t there?这种用法有两种意思，一个是表示某种情感；另外是对自己的判断，希望对方给出答案。这种用法的时候，通常反义疑问都是降调。
还有另外一种用法，当同样是isn’t there? 但采用的是升调时，是表示不相信，不信任的语气。而同样是升调，而疑问和主句相同is there? 则表示一种强烈的情感，愤怒，不屑。
