It's about the nearest they could get through, knowing what we sounded like before we became the clever Beatles.
We'd be well into the album and we all knew that I'd be doing a number somewhere, so we'd either say, "Have you got a song?" you know, "We've got this for you."
In the early days, it was primarily the American rhythm and blues sound that was their inspiration. I think this is probably what the so-called "Beatles sound" was, because all the black music was a tremendous influence on them.
When I joined the Beatles, we didn't really know each other, but the four of us virtually had the same record.
I had a Chuck Berry record and I liked it. And I used to sing it on the clubs. There was a bunch of cover versions. Mr Postman.约翰:当年这是他们熟悉我们音乐的最佳途径,毕竟彼时我们还没有成名。
我们都全力投入新专辑的制作,而且我们都很清楚我的不足之处可能会拖累整个乐队。所以大家都问,‘你写出新歌了吗?’‘我们为你写了这首歌。’
在乐队成立的早期,他们的灵感主要来自于美式节奏和蓝调。我觉得这就是所谓的"披头士之声"的元素,因为黑人音乐对他们的影响很大。
当我加入披头士乐队的时候,我们还不太了解对方,但我们四个人居然拥有同一张唱片。
我曾有一张查克·贝里的唱片  我很喜欢。我曾在俱乐部里唱过。当时翻唱很流行  比如《Mr Postman》这首歌 。
