Good news on the job front. Employers in April add 165,000 jobs, the unemployment rate falling to 7.5%. But the Fed says it will keep short-term interest rates low until unemployment falls to 6.5%.
The surge in hiring sent stocks higher, climbing further into record territory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average crossed 15,000 for the first time, the S&P 500 Index, rising above 1,600.
An American military tanker crashes in Kyrgyzstan, three crew members on board. The U.S. operates an air base in the country, a key part of the war in Afghanistan. No word on the crew.
There it goes, the Solar Impulse leaves California on its flight across the country. The trip is the first attempt by a solar airplane to fly day and night without fuel.
