But was it the God particle scientists thought - that now famous Higgs boson - giving substance to everything? Was it just a Higgs particle, one of many different kinds, or merely Higgs-like - a false God particle? I've come to consult the oracle at CERN's Large Hadron Collider where, on a daily basis, high priests and priestesses of particle physics restaged the moments of creation, and ask how that very Big Bang led to life the universe and everything.
"So we are much more than an oracle and we do it with much more modern means. But I think the comparison is not so bad because at the moment many many people come to CERN to see what we are doing. We are looking at the big questions which also the ancient Greeks were already asking, or essentially everybody is asking, at least from time to time, himself or herself, namely: Where do we come from? How did everything start? How did everything develop, yeah? The early universe - what forces were there?
