        Hints:
Haiti, Haitian
Hurricane Sandy
Maryse Etrenne
Handicap International
再P.S.

But first, this month Haiti is marking the third anniversary of the devastating earthquake, in which a quarter of a million people died. Recovery since that time has been frustratingly slow. More than 300,000 Haitians are still in temporary shelters, and many more lives have been lost to outbreaks of cholera and to Hurricane Sandy last year. But one woman who's been working hard to get her life back on track is Maryse Etrenne. The mother of five was buried under rubble when the earthquake struck and was feared dead. One of her legs was amputated to save her life. But now she's been fitted with a prosthetic leg and she helps other amputees through the aid organisation Handicap International. Through a translator, Maryse told me about the moment when the earthquake struck her home.
"I was with my daughter and my son. There is nothing I could do. I was talking with my daughter and she kept telling me, 'Mama, I see the earth mounting.' And I couldn't do anything. And then the wall fell on me. "
What do you remember of the moment when the wall collapsed?
"I don't remember much because it was so brutal. But the only thing I can remember is my son crying, saying, 'Oh my God, my mama is dead.' This is the only thing I can remember of it. "
And where was your husband at the time?
"He wasn't far away. He was the one calling the people who came to help me under the wall. "
So you must've been very badly injured. Can you tell me how hurt you were?
"I was really badly hurt. When I was brought to the hospital they cleaned me up and they saw what happened. And then you could feel the tension in the air. I really thought I was going to die. The doctor told me that I had a very deep infection to my leg, and that if they couldn't amputate, I would die.
