Rick Seaney: Holiday tip number five, ship your gifts ahead so you don’t get hit with overweight bag fees and those pesky check bag charges.
Number four, buy your tickets early, at least a month ahead.
Number three, can’t find a flight or one that is cheap enough? Check airline websites for vacation package deals, the kind that may come with a hotel and rental car. Believe it or not, these packages can be cheaper than purchasing air fare alone.
Number two, travel the Saturday before Thanksgiving and wait until Tuesday to come home.
And my number one savings tip, travel on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day; you’ll save hundreds. |
